2. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how HoldClose handles information when you use the HoldClose app, website, AI features, subscriptions, and support/contact features.
3. Relationship information you enter
HoldClose is designed around private relationship management. The core relationship information you enter, such as names, notes, reminders, reflections, goals, and relationship context, is intended primarily for your own use inside the app. HoldClose is not a social network, and other people do not need a HoldClose account for you to track a relationship with them.
Some information may leave your device when necessary to provide a feature you choose to use or to operate the app, as described below.
4. AI features
If you use HoldClose AI or other AI-assisted features, the relationship context or other content needed to generate a response may be transmitted securely to OpenAI through its API. HoldClose is designed so those requests do not require OpenAI to know your real-world identity. The content you choose to use with an AI feature may still include relationship details that you entered in HoldClose.
AI features are optional. If you do not use them, that information does not need to be sent to OpenAI for an AI response.
5. App analytics and diagnostics
HoldClose may collect standard app analytics and diagnostic information to understand whether the app is working properly and how features are being used. This can include information such as app version, device or operating-system type, feature usage, performance data, crash information, and similar technical data. We use this information to improve stability, usability, and product decisions.
6. Notifications
If you enable reminders or notifications, HoldClose and Apple may process the technical information necessary to schedule or deliver those notifications. You can manage notification permissions in your iPhone settings.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
Paid HoldClose subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. HoldClose does not receive your full payment-card information. Apple may provide us with purchase and subscription status information needed to unlock paid features.
8. Website contact form
If you contact HoldClose through the website, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit. The contact form is processed by Formspree and delivered to our email account. Formspree may process technical information associated with the submission as part of operating its service.
9. How we use information
- Provide and maintain HoldClose features.
- Generate AI responses when you choose to use AI features.
- Deliver reminders and notifications you request.
- Confirm subscription status and paid access.
- Understand app performance and improve the product.
- Respond to support and contact requests.
- Protect HoldClose from misuse, fraud, or security threats.
10. What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not operate an advertising business built around your relationship data. We do not make your relationship notes, reflections, or reminders visible to other HoldClose users.
11. Data retention
Information stored locally in the app remains under your control until you delete it, remove the app, or otherwise clear the relevant data. Information handled by service providers, such as OpenAI, Apple, analytics providers, or Formspree, may be retained according to their applicable service terms and technical requirements. Support emails may be retained as needed to respond to you and maintain reasonable business records.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate for a small consumer app. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, so HoldClose cannot promise absolute security.
13. Your choices
- You can choose whether to use optional AI features.
- You can manage notification permissions through iOS.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store account.
- You can remove data you no longer want stored in HoldClose using available app controls or by deleting the app where applicable.

14. Children
HoldClose is intended for users age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected in a way that requires deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as HoldClose evolves, including when we add or change service providers, analytics, account features, or data practices. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes.
